I was having this conversation with my girlfriend the other day and it seems to be that her and her friends have come to the consensus that they all want to have great toned bodies and reduce their body fat but feel that if they lift weights, that will cause them to be bulky and they don’t want that. Nothing could be further from the truth!
Lifting Weights is Amazing for Losing Fat!
I have tested this over and over again. At one point in my life, I did not have abs at all. In fact, I was downright chubby.
I thought that the best way to resolve this was for me to just go running every single day of the week and that is all that I needed.
While I did shed some pounds, my physique was no where near what I envisioned. I didn’t have the six pack abs or the cuts I wanted despite the fact that I was running 3 miles a day upon waking up, when my body would burn nothing but fat.
How Lifting Weights Helped Me Burn Fat and Get Toned
As more and more people began telling me that I looked “scrawny” after doing nothing but jogging, I decided to start lifting weights. But, like most people, I was afraid of getting too “bulky.”
Obviously, I didn’t think rationally. I didn’t realize, like most people don’t, that you don’t just become bulky overnight. Muscle is built on throughout a slow process that can be monitored and slowed down when you feel like you’re becoming too big.
Further, the amazing thing about weight lifting and having muscle on your body is that it required my body to burn more calories to maintain the muscles. That meant more fat loss!
It was incredible! While I was watching television or even sleeping I was burning fat because I had built up muscle that my body needed to maintain 24/7!
From there on, I incorporated a weight routine along with my 3 times a week running routine. Since then, I’ve had nothing but amazing results!

Women don't have the same amount of hormones as men that build muscle so women won't get bulky like a man if they lift weights. The women who do body building lift heavy weight and take supplement to make them develop muscles like a male would.
Exactly my point. There are so many people who use that excuse that they will get bulky as a way of avoiding lifting weights to lose belly fat. It's simply not true.
